A 20-Year Record and the "Speaking" Eggs

The candlelight flickered on the dining table.

The scent of red wine filled the air.

They were celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary.

The husband looked at his wife, his eyes filled with the self-satisfaction of a man who believed he was perfect.

"Honey, in twenty years, have you ever kept a secret from me?"

The wife hesitated.



She slowly pulled a small metal box from a locked drawer.

Inside were three eggs.

And 3,000 GBP in cash.

"Every time you made me sad or disappointed me, I put an egg in this box."

The husband looked at the three eggs.

He was moved to tears.

Twenty years of marriage.

Only three times he had let her down.

He felt like a saint.

The ultimate model of a husband.

He took her hand, his voice trembling with emotion:

"But... what about the 3,000 pounds?"

The wife looked up.

Her gaze was as calm as a frozen lake.

"Oh, that," she replied.
